Under the direction of Music Director Joseph P. Fitzmartin and Associate Music Director Steven M. Fisher, Keystone State Boychoir consists of 150 young men between the ages of 8 and 18 who sing an enthralling repertoire encompassing the classical to the contemporary.
Major choral works that KSB has performed include Orff’s Carmina Burana, Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Britten’s St. Nicolas, and the Fauré Requiem.
The Keystone State Boychoir has sung with the region’s most distinguished ensembles, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Opera Company of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Singers. The Boychoir has performed in Brazil, Vietnam, Malaysia, as well as in venues throughout Alaska, Canada, South Africa, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, Monaco, France, Germany, Austria, and Bulgaria. This December, KSB will embark on a concert tour of Chile, including a one-day excursion to King George Island, Antarctica, where the boys will sing for scientists from seven countries.
This fabulous vocal group will mesmerize your audience with their style, grace, and superb vocal abilities.
I was at your Sydney concert on Saturday night. May I say what a truly
delightful and inspirational performance it was. You moved me and my
family enormously. My wife and I were born in South Africa and moved
here 21 years ago. Your South African piece was marvelous and, when we
closed our eyes, we were transported to Soweto.
- Andrew Thompson, Sydney, Australia 2007
I have rarely been so moved, both to laugh and to cry
by the range and presentation of the music.
The various ages and combinations of voices
from the angelic younger boys to the robust teens,
and the many styles of music,
made this a perfect concert, a wonderful closer to our season.
Your mission, the mix of music from around the world
and the unbridled enthusiasm of the boys touched us all.
This is a group of which the state and the nation can be most proud.
As we look at the ethnic diversity of the boys,
a reminder that music does break down the boundaries
and bring people together. I hope other organizations will have the
sheer delight we experienced with a concert by the Keystone State Boychoir.
