Girsa
Girsa has enjoyed both popular and critical acclaim following the release of their debut CD, Girsa in March, 2009.

Comprised of young women from the Pearl River, NY area, Girsa means “young girls” in Gaelic. Steeped in the Irish music and cultural tradition, they have studied their instruments and dance with gifted teachers such as Maureen Glynn Connolly, Pete Kelly, Rose (Conway) Flanagan, Patty (Conway) Furlong, Margie Mulvihill, Annmarie Acosta, Eileen Goodman, Mary Coogan and Frankie McCormick who pass on the time-honored tunes and songs.

Playing such instruments as fiddle, bodhran, piano, button accordion, guitar,
mandolin and auto harp, this lively concert is a sure audience pleaser.

The combined talents of these girls are frightening.
They are a force to be reckoned with.
–Joanie Madden

This music is simply exquisite.
These young ladies have a refreshing sound
that shows a deep, abiding respect for the tradition.
– Brian Conway
Girsa is an exciting all-star ensemble of young ladies who create powerful and spirited Irish traditional music, song, and dance. Affectionately compared to Cherish the Ladies, the players of Girsa have all known each other since they were very young, growing up participating in Irish music and dance in their community of Pearl River, NY.
